Vintage Artist Made Wallpaper Cardboard Hat Box/Bandbox Ship on Front.
18 1/2" X 14 1/2" X 12 1/2" H.
Sailing ship on front, Seafood restaurants on lid.
This was made by my mother, Eleanor Holland (1926-2004), who was an artist, beginning before her teens, until a couple of years before her passing. I have sold many of the porcelain dolls she made, here, on ebay, where there are still a few listed.
I believe she made this in the early 1970s, but not sure of exact date.
The cardboard is stitched together at the seams, to make the box, and lid, before being covered with wallpaper, and decorated. Afterwards it was antiqued.
My mother made 3 different hat boxes, at the same time, and I will be listing all 3. Note: the stitching was not covered on the inside of one of the boxes, so you will be able to see how it was done, by checking the other listings.
