This is a vintage American Needle reproduction of the Seattle Pilots caps worn by the team during its only year of existence, marketed as part of the "Cooperstown Collection". This cap was purchased in the 90's and has only been displayed, never worn. Although Cooperstown Collection is still releasing new products every year, they no longer sell this particular model. This style of cap was worn by the Pilots in 1969, as famously chronicled by Jim Bouton in the book Ball Four. It features their "S" logo in block font, underlined in gold on the front. The bill of the cap features the "scrambled eggs" design of a ship pilot's hat. The entire body of the cap is royal blue. American Needle makes top-quality caps in the USA - the headband is double-stitched twill, for example, not the lesser construction and materials found even if some better-quality competing caps. I look at this classic, top-quality, retro cap and instantly think of all the great characters on that Pilot team and memorable quotes captured by Bouton, like "It's a round ball and a round bat and you gotta hit it square"! The cap's tag is tucked in the headband. We have plenty more Cooperstown Collection caps, as shown in the final picture, among our nearly 100 similar vintage caps in excellent, unworn condition available, all different colors and styles. We are listing these as qucikly as we can, but in the meantime we'll ship any number of our caps within the Continental US at no additional shipping charge beyond what you pay for the first one at its listed price.
